Room for Contemporary Square Coffee Table

There is always room for a modern square coffee table, even in traditionally rustic homes. However, we wanted to alter the landscape a little and add plenty of storage, a delicate base and fabulous functionality as well. After all, it doesn’t take inordinate amounts of skill to simply place a square top on a solid base. On the other hand, making something that has flow, character and hidden potential is a whole other ballgame. We tagged ourselves in as the QB here! We started by thinking about the best wood to use. It did not take long before we knew that an Asian walnut coffee table is hard to beat. Then we paired it with the deepest ebony, for a geometric design that alludes to the hidden surprise; four drawers that open out to reveal individual storage segments! From the top, you’d never guess that all of these drawers were in place. However, they are so perfectly proportioned and handy. Depending on the size of your family, it would be excellent to give everybody their own drawer, to prevent clutter in the living room, or simply use them for space-appropriate items that are easily lost, such as remote controls, listing magazines and coasters.

An Surprising Look

You would be absolutely forgiven for looking at this urban contemporary coffee table and just assuming that it is pretty but not much else. However, how little would you actually know! There’s such a zen ambience about the design itself. So much so, that the smooth drawer glides act as an extension of that languid functionality and amplify how chic and understated this piece of furniture is. We can clearly picture it sitting in the middle of a relaxing space, maybe with a lucky bamboo plant on top, just stealing the show.
