But First... Coffee Tables!

However, that always gets us thinking…about coffee tables! A deceptively simple concept and being relatively small items, you’d be forgiven for assuming that designing and crafting the perfect modern rustic coffee table would be a piece of cake, but in reality, there is so much to consider and so many different tastes to account for. So much so, that it becomes a Herculean task. We love a challenge here at Woodland Creek Furniture and we have set out to offer a comprehensive range of rustic designs that will work in any home and our Troubadour Coffee Table is a perfect example of the universal appeal that we have striven for. A heady combination of modern and rustic influences, with striking linear metalwork added in for good measure and balance, we know you’re going to be clearing a spot in your living room as soon as you see this fabulous live edge coffee table design.

Creating Harmony

Creating harmony was at the center of our design process here. As we were looking to create a soft rustic coffee table. This means that while we wanted to make good use of certain recognizable features. Such as a live edge and metal strap handles, we also wanted to err on the side of modernity. Part of our Tim McClellan Collection, we think the Troubadour balances old and new, as well as diverse materials perfectly. After a lot of thought, we decided to start with a solid wood coffee table idea and transform it into a more industrial coffee tables, to get the right mix of modern meets rustic and metal meets wood. That’s why you’ll see a linear black metal frame that gently cradles black walnut and supports the live edge top so beautifully. We could have opted for a chrome finish, to freshen up the vibe and add a more contemporary aesthetic. However, remember that we are all about balance with this item of furniture. We wanted to make something that would look just as at home in a minimalist modern home as in a lodge or cabin and it’s clear that we managed to fulfill our brief.

Clearly a wide variety of choices

Speaking of clear, that’s how we finish your new Troubadour table, with just a clear topcoat. Black walnut is such a naturally gorgeous and characterful wood that it needs nothing more to really shine. It also exudes a warmth and depth all of its own and we know not to compete with Mother Nature. So, we simply amplify, rather than mask the wood’s own charm. Standing at 19” high, there is plenty of room for two useful drawers and an open shelf, to take care of easily-lost living room items. In addition, we know you’ll appreciate the generous top, with room to spare for a lamp, plenty of coasters and some reading material too. Designed, made and shipped, for free, in the USA, this is a slice of domestic pride and design genius all rolled into one affordable and necessary home addition.
