Birch bark furniture traces its roots back to the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York. Many of the wealthy early Americans had “great camps” located in the pristine Adirondacks. Local artisans built rustic furniture with birch bark panels with twigs and other natural materials. Examples of birch bark furniture can be found in both museums and antique shops throughout upstate New York.

About Woodland Creek Furniture
Natural birch logs are harvested annually and then slowly air dried. Removing the birch bark from the logs is a true test of patience. Our artisans carefully remove the birch bark sheets and then pressed flat.
You will notice some of the birch bark utilized in the furniture is pure white, and in other designs it is darker. That is because the birch bark can be used natural or stained darker. You can specify.
Our artisans have perfected a way to cut and shape pieces of birch bark logs and turn these shapes into a beautiful birch bark design. Many of the birch furniture designs have this handcrafted artwork.
